What is the SE/SCI-AHEC?

Southeast/South Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (SE/SCI AHEC) is a program designed to improve healthcare through community and academic partnerships. Indiana's third AHEC was established in the Southeast-South Central region of the state in the fall of 2003 under the guidance of Hoosier Uplands Economic Development Corporation. The community based non-profit organization has forged successful partnerships within the 24 county region by creating an advisory board to guide the development of programs to address the unique needs of the region. Our 24 counties include Bartholomew, Brown, Clark,  Crawford, Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Ohio, Orange, Ripley, Rush, Scott, Switzerland, Union, and Washington.

The SE/SCI-AHEC is working to:

  • Provide access to continuing education for health care professionals.

  • Present health career awareness and outreach programs to secondary students.

  • Develop mentoring programs with academic institutions for college students.
