- Have at least 6 inches of insulation in attic floor.
- Weather-strip windows, doors, attic door or trapdoor.
- Caulk around exterior doors, windows, and ceiling fixtures upstairs.
- Insulate unheated basement ceilings.
- Close drapes at night, open in daytime.
- Properly insulate, caulk, weather-strip.
- Locate thermostat where it will accurately measure temperature; mount on level and keep free of dust.
- Set air conditioning thermostat no lower than 78-80 and don't keep changing.
- Keep shades down, drapes drawn.
