  • Tips for Energy Conservation
Kitchen
  • Keep your refrigerator temperature set at 37-40 degrees and 0-5 degrees for the freezer
  • Make sure refrigerator and freezer door seals are airtight.
  • Do not place a refrigerator or freezer in direct sunlight or in contact with a hot appliance.
  • Thaw frozen food in the refrigerator to help cool the interior.
  • Let cooked food partially cool before placing in the refrigerator for storage.
  • Too many stored dishes in the refrigerator obstructs air circulation.
  • Cover and wrap foods to avoid the release of excess moisture into the refrigerator.
  • Use small appliances for small meals.
  • Cook one-dish meals as often as possible.
  • Use oven to capacity
  • Cook more than one meal at a time, for reheating later.  Do not preheat oven except for very short baking jobs.
  • Use oven more in cold weather.
