Melissa Jeremiah Recently Granted Credentials as a Certified Home/Hospice Care Executive Melissa Jeremiah, RN, Director of Operations with Hoosier Uplands Home Health Care & Hospice was recently granted credentials as a Certified Home/Hospice Care Executive (CHCE) by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC). Certification represents achievement of a gold standard of knowledge for the operation of a home care/hospice organization. The CHCE certification examination tests an individual's knowledge in the eight areas most relevant to the home care/hospice field. These include: finanace and reimbursement; legal and regulatory; organization planning and management; human resources; quality and risk management; public relations; marketing and education; ethics; and information management. NAHC Preseident, Val J. Halamandaris, said this about Melissa, "We are extremely pleased to credential Melissa as a certified home and hospice care executive. Her success in passing the certification exam and professional standard requirement demonstrates how her education, knowledge and experience promote quality leadership in home care and hospice."
Melissa Jeremiah, RN, CHCE, Director of Operations, was appointed to the National Association for Home Care & Hospice Voluntary Homecare Association of America Advisory Board for 2008. Melissa Jeremiah, RN, CHCE, Director of Operations, was recently elected Secretary of the Board of the Indiana Association for Home and Hospice Care, Inc. (IAHHC).
Deena Wilson Recently Granted Credentials as a Certified Hospice & Palliative Care RN Deena Wilson, RN, was recently granted credentials as a Certified Hospice & Palliative Care RN (CHPN) by the National Board of Certification for Hospice & Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN). Certification represents achievement of a gold standard of knowledge for the RN working in the Hospice field. The CHPN certification examination tests the RN's knowledge in the seven areas most relevant to the hospital field. These include: life-limiting conditions in adult patients, pain management, symptom management, care of patient and family, interdisciplinary/collaborative practice and professional issue. Melissa Jeremiah, RN, CHCE, Director of Operations for Hoosier Uplands Home Health Care & Hospice, stated, "Deena's success in passing the CHPN credentialing process demonstrates how her knowledge and experience promote quality patient care at Hoosier Uplands Hospice."

Mary Spicer Is Named Recipient of the 2006 Cheryl Atwood Award Mary Spicer, HHA, was recently honored by the Indiana Association for HOme and Hospice Care (IAHHC), as the recipient of the 2006 Cheryl Atwood Award. Cheryl Atwood Award recipients are individuals who make a significant positive impact on patients or staff, are not in an upper management position, have at least one year employment with nominating agency and provide leadership within the agency.

Hoosier Uplands Home Health Care & Hospice Receives Wal-Mart Community Grant Hoosier Uplands Home Health Care and Hospice would like to thank the Paoli Wal-Mart for their generous donation of $1,000 via a Wal-Mart Community Grant. The monies will be used to update our educational resources for staff educational and public presentations. Thanks again to the Paoli Wal-Mart!

Hoosier Uplands Home Care recently received a charitable contribution totaling $2,250.00 from Integra Bank Wealth Management, Trustee of the Mulzer Foundation. Patricia R. Evans, Vice-President & Trust Officer, stated in her letter, "Thank you for your dedication to making our community a better place for all of us!"
Hoosier Uplands Hospice Recently Receives Donation
Hoosier Uplands Home Health and Hospice would like to thank the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club for their generous donation of $1,000 to go toward the Hospice Program. The Boat Club had their first annual poker run in September and donated the proceeds to Hospice in October. To show their appreciation, Hoosier Uplands Hospice staff presented the Boat Club with a plaque. Thanks again to the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club!
