 Energy Assistance Program
Hoosier Uplands will once again be offering assistance with winter heating bills for income eligible residents of Lawrence, Orange, Martin and Washington Counties. Services are provided without regard to race, color, religion, sex, disability, national origin, ancestry, or status as a veteran.  Applications for the heating portion of the program will be taken from November 1, 2025 through April 20, 2026 funding permitting.

To apply for Energy Assistance, you will need the following:
  • Two (2) page application completely filled out, signed, and dated
  • Proof of Income for all members of the household age 18 and older
          * SSA, SSI, VA, Pension, or Retirement:  current year benefit letter
          * Employed:  most recent check stub with gross year to date information
          * Self-Employed:  all pages of your current year tax return
          * Unemployment:  fill out and return the DWD Release form
          * Zero Income:  fill out and return the Undocumented Income Verification for any periods of zero income in the past three months
  • Utility Bill(s) dated within the last 30 days
          * Electric Bill:  all pages of your most recent bill
          * Natural Gas:  all pages of your most recent bill
          * LP Gas:  all pages of your most recent statement
  • Veteran:  DD-214
  • Children age 18 and over still in high school or college will need a letter of attendance or schedule from the school
If your application is not completely filled out and documents are missing, your application will be denied.  It can take up to 55 days to enter your application.
