The Choices Initiative began in July 2020 and is funded through the State of Indiana, Division of Mental Health and Addiction.  This funding is for a two year period and is designed to provide substance abuse prevention services in Lawrence County.  These services include media campaigns, local policy work, evidence based substance abuse prevention programming, and a significant amount of community work.  The evidence based programs that will be implemented include:  An Apple a Day, Creating Lasting Family Connections, and Positive Action.  The program also has a youth media campaign called "What's Your Side Effect" that empowers youth to make healthy choices and an adult media campaign called Talk, They Hear You that empowers parents and caregivers to talk to their youth about tough topics.
